  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted) Coconut oil can be used for dairy-free.
For the Crumb Topping
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour.
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar White sugar can be used as an alternative.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup cold butter Vegan butter works for dairy-free.
Optional Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar Mix with milk to achieve desired consistency.
  • 2 tablespoons milk Adjust with more for a thinner glaze.

Method
 

Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the donut baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, sour cream, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter.
  4. Gently pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and fold until just combined.
  5. Fill each donut mold about 2/3 full with the batter.
  6. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon for the crumb topping. Cut in the cold butter until crumbly.
  7. Sprinkle the crumb topping over the batter in the molds.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden and springy.
  9. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes then transfer to a wire rack.
  10. For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with a splash of milk and drizzle over cooled donuts.
