Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together 1/2 cup of softened unsalted butter and 1 cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add 2 large eggs one at a time, mixing in 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract and red food coloring until desired color is achieved.
  4. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
