For the Crumble Topping
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour Use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend for gluten-free.
  • 1/2 cup Cold Butter Substitute with coconut oil for dairy-free.
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar Regular granulated sugar can be used.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter. Cut the French bread into cubes and layer them in the dish.
  2. Slice ripe bananas and layer over the bread cubes.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until frothy.
  4. Pour custard mixture over the bread and bananas, pressing down lightly to soak all pieces.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  6. Mix topping ingredients until crumbly and suitable for sprinkling.
  7. Sprinkle topping over the chilled casserole before baking.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 40-45 minutes until set and golden.
  9. Let cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
