Step-by-Step Instructions for Chicken Cabbage Stir-Fry
  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper. Toss diced chicken breast into this marinade and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), black pepper, salt, crushed red pepper flakes, and the cornstarch mixed with water.
  3. Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat and melt butter. Add the marinated chicken and stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until golden brown.
  4. In the same skillet, add more butter if necessary, and toss in sliced onions and minced garlic. Sauté for about 2 minutes until translucent.
  5. Add shredded cabbage, sliced bell pepper, and julienned carrots to the skillet and stir-fry for 5-6 minutes until they start to soften.
  6. Return the cooked chicken back to the skillet, pour in the prepared sauce, and stir to coat everything. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions.
