  • 1 cup Frozen Peas add one minute before pasta is done
For the Sauce
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream adjust based on desired creaminess
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil or use butter
  • 1 medium Yellow Onion finely chopped
For the Topping
  • 4 slices Bacon for vegetarian version, omit or use turkey bacon

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large pot, bring salted water to a vigorous boil over high heat.
  2. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions (10-12 minutes).
  3. Just one minute before the penne is done, add the frozen peas.
  4. Carefully drain the pasta and peas together in a colander.
  5. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat, then add diced onion and strips of bacon.
  6. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the bacon is crispy and onions are translucent.
  7. Gently add the drained pasta and peas to the skillet, stirring well.
  8. Lower the heat to medium, pour in the heavy cream, stirring continuously.
  9. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the cream begins to bubble gently.
  10. Serve immediately in warm bowls with optional grated cheese.
